J.S. Bach’s three sonatas for viola da gamba are now available in transcriptions for the double bass that preserve the original markings from the manuscripts. The music has been transcribed to be performed one octave lower than the original pitch of the viola da gamba without any editorial contributions to octave changes.
This edition gives the performer flexibility on a program with or without solo tuning, while at the same time not having to navigate around an editor’s markings of the music.
